Bulk edit model column properties

You can bulk edit an Explore model's column properties. In Explore, you can apply one property value to multiple columns. Or for even more flexibility, you can export the model as a CSV file, edit many properties, then import the changes.

Apply one property value to multiple columns

Procedure

  1. In the top navigation bar, use the workspace selector application switcher button to go to the Data workspace, then select the name of the model.
  2. Select Edit model > Columns.
  3. Select the columns that you want to edit.
  4. From the Edit drop=down list, select a property to edit.
  5. Choose or insert a value, then select Update to apply it to every selected column.

Edit many properties in a CSV file

Procedure

  1. In the top navigation bar, use the workspace selector application switcher button to go to the Data workspace, then select the name of the model.
  2. Select Edit model > Columns.
  3. Select all of the columns or just the columns you know you want to edit.
  4. Select Model CSV export to download a CSV to your computer.
  5. Open the CSV file, edit any properties, then save the file as a CSV.
Important: Notice that some columns are labeled "Do not modify." These aren't modifiable in Explore, so if you modify the CSV they won't pass validation when you import.
  6. Back in Explore, select Model CSV import.
  7. Upload the CSV file, then select Next.
Each change you made is listed in a preview. It shows the old and new values and validates each change.
  8. Select Import.
