Glossary

Answers
An Answer is the result of a search that Explore saves in the form of a visualization, such as a table or a chart.
attributes
Attributes are primarily text or date values. Attributes generally make up the x-axis of your chart. Some examples of attributes in terms of a person include name, address, and phone number.
connection
A connection is how your data from Guidewire Data Platform is made available to Explore. The tables in a connection are not business-friendly or optimized for searching in Explore, so they are turned into models.
curate
The process through which ETL methods are used to combine, enrich, and transform raw data into a new curated dataset.
filter
A data column value that a user can add to a search that will limit the results returned.
formula
An expression that applies a calculation (usually mathematical) to data.
KPI
Key Performance Indicator, a quantifiable measure used to evaluate the performance of a process, organization, employee, or other entities.
Liveboard
A collection of related Answers that lets you instantly create personalized, interactive, and actionable insights from your data. Liveboards are the equivalent of interactive, live dashboards.
measures
Measures are numeric values used to perform mathematical calculations. You will most likely find your measures on the y-axis of your chart. Some examples of measures in terms of a person are age, height, and weight.
near real time
A period up to one hour for data to be refreshed.
role
A collection of one or more privileges, though in Explore it's typically one privilege per role. Roles are assigned to groups. When you add users to a group, they automatically get the roles of that group.
TML
ThoughtSpot Modeling language, used to modify a ThoughtSpot object (Liveboard or Answer) in a flat-file format. (TML feature not currently implemented)
Model
A model is the semantic layer providing business names and includes data source connections, table selections, table joins, column filtering, and column naming. Models allow users to access their data, without requiring an understanding of how the data is structured.
