Solution content in Explore

Guidewire Explore streamlines insurance business insights by including base configuration content focused on specific use cases.

Available content

Each of the following base configuration Explore solutions includes Explore models, Answers, and Liveboards, as well as the source solution datasets in Data Studio. A model is a business definition semantic layer which allows you to easily access your data without requiring an understanding of the underlying data structure. You use a model as a data source to create Answers and Liveboards. An Answer is a visualized data report. A Liveboard is an interactive, live dashboard that presents multiple data visualizations.

High-level data flow

Guidewire simplifies and curates InsuranceSuite source data through multiple layers in Guidewire Data Platform before publishing the final solution datasets from Data Studio to Explore. Then in Explore, Guidewire creates the user-friendly models, Liveboards, and Answers. Learn more about the data flow in this video:

Customization

You can customize solution content at different points data flow. For example, directly in Explore, you can:
  • Extend Explore models with additional columns, formulas, filters, and parameters
  • Edit Liveboard visualizations
Extending the model with your custom InsuranceSuite extension columns requires work in Data Studio. The base configuration solution content includes fields that Guidewire manually selected for analytics and reporting use cases. They don’t include:
  • Your InsuranceSuite extension fields and tables
  • Other InsuranceSuite base configuration fields and tables that are specific to your use case
Those fields are however available in Data Studio, in the replicated data tables and dynamically-generated datasets. If you want to use those fields in Explore, you can extend the Guidewire-created models. To learn more, see Working with base configuration content.
