Boolean modifiers in Advanced Product Designer
Advanced Product Designer Boolean modifiers let underwriters apply discounts or surcharges with clear yes or no decisions for each risk. Boolean modifiers improve pricing accuracy and speed product setup for policy scenarios such as passive restraint, anti-lock brakes, and youthful operator cases.
Boolean modifiers are commonly used in personal auto insurance policies:
- You model Boolean modifiers on a vehicle risk object so that an underwriter can indicate whether or not to apply a passive restraint discount or an anti-lock brakes discount.
- You model a Youthful Operator modifier on a vehicle risk object so that an underwriter can indicate whether or not to apply a surcharge on a driver between the ages of 16 and 18.
Another common use of a Boolean modifier is a multi-policy discount. A multi-policy discount modifier is attached to a product line.

Advanced Product Designer lets product modelers create a Boolean modifier for a product, product line, or risk object to control true or false behavior accurately.
