Import modifier from mind map in Advanced Product Designer

Advanced Product Designer lets product designers import a modifier from a mind map and replace autogenerated Rate Factor Types with usable names. This task explains how to create a Rate Factor Type, relink the Rate Factor, and remove the autogenerated type.

Procedure

  1. Create a new Rate Factor Type with a label and short name, for example label Longevity in Business and short name LongevityInBusiness.
  2. Update the Rate Factor's Rate Factor Type to the newly created Rate Factor Type (LongevityInBusiness in this example).
  3. Delete the automatically generated Rate Factor Type.
The automatically generated Rate Factor Type can now be deleted since no other Rate Factor links to it.

Update product from mind map in Advanced Product Designer

Advanced Product Designer updates an existing product from a mind map so product changes can be applied quickly. This task explains how to upload a mind map and apply the update to the product. This action cannot be undone. Updating a product using a mind map modifies existing elements and adds new elements to the product; it does not remove elements from the product. All elements are first compared by the label, and then by the title. For this reason, use labels in your mind maps so that the correct elements are updated. The 30-character limit on titles of fields and terms is not currently enforced by APD App. If an element's code exceeds the 30-character limit, the code is matched with the mind map label or title and updated as required. However, when you import a mind map, and the label or title exceeds the 30-character limit, a new shorter code is generated by APD App.

Procedure

  1. In Advanced Product Designer App, go to the Insurance Products page. This is the main page.
  2. Choose Update Product from Mind Map from the product's ... menu.
  3. On the Load Product popup, select Upload mind map file under From Mind Map and browse to select your mind map.
  4. Click Update.
  5. If the mind map contains a secondary language, in Secondary Language, choose the language from the drop-down list. Click Update.
