Basis attribute in Advanced Product Designer

In APD billing, a basis attribute supplies the value used to calculate a cost definition. This topic explains valid basis attribute sources and supported data types for coverage and non-coverage costs.

A basis attribute for a cost definition must meet one of the following criteria:
  • The basis attribute must be a term of the cost definition's owning coverage.
  • The basis attribute must be a field of any risk in the hierarchy above the cost definition.
  • The basis attribute must be a field of an exposure in the same risk as the cost definition's owning coverage.
  • If the cost definition is owned by a coverage, the basis attribute must be a field of the risks or exposures that are children of the cost definition's risk, as long as that risk does not have any clauses.

The basis attribute for a non-coverage cost definition must be of type integer, money, or bigdecimal. The basis attribute for a coverage cost definition must be of type integer, money, bigdecimal, option, or package.
