Working with multi-line products
Create a multi-line product
Before you begin
About this task
A multi-line product serves as a container for several product lines. Editions are copied from the constituent product lines to the multi-line product.
Note: Editions are handled differently for cloud products and
products created in PolicyCenter. For cloud products, only editions associated with
the product and its constituent lines are displayed on the Product
Definition screen in PolicyCenter. For products created in
PolicyCenter, editions are shared by different products using the same line, so
additional editions may appear on the Product Definition
screen.
Create a multi-line product
Procedure
Make changes to a multi-line product
About this task
When making changes to a multi-line product, take note of the following:
- You cannot make product model changes to a product line within a multi-line product; you must make the changes in the mono-line product.
- You can make changes to a product line's rules within a multi-line product, but the changes are not propagated to the mono-line product.
- You can make changes to a product line's editions within a multi-line product, but the changes are not propagated to the mono-line product. To apply changes to a product line's editions in both the multi-line product and the mono-line product, detach the product line from the multi-line product and re-attach it after saving your changes to the mono-line product. If it is not necessary to keep the mono-line product's editions synchronized with the multi-line product's editions, make the changes to the product line's editions within the multi-line product.
