Data model considerations

A custom policy descendant is a policy descendant created by an insurer.

• To be considered a policy descendant, the entity must have a foreign key relationship to Policy, either directly or indirectly.

Guidewire recommends adding a PolicySystemId field to all custom policy descendants so that they can be referenced in Cloud API by policySystemId.
