Deductible Recoveries
You can use a recovery in ClaimCenter to collect a deductible. In commercial lines of business, payments are often made first, and then the deductible is recovered later. You can use the deductible recoveries feature to achieve this, if you did not apply the deductible when checks are created.
You can also use this feature (in any line of business) to collect the deductible if the adjuster failed to apply the deductible when initially creating the check.
When designating a recovery as a deductible recovery in the Create Recovery screen, ClaimCenter limits the recovery to a single line item that cannot be removed. The amount of the line item is set to the deductible amount on the policy (or any remaining deductible amount if some of the deductible has already been applied).
In this way, all the user can do is alter the line item amount or add an optional comment.
- The line item amount exceeds the deductible amount.
- The entire deductible has already been collected in a prior transaction
This warning does not prevent the transaction.
In the base application, if you attempt to create a recovery against an exposure without an associated deductible, or on a reserve line that does not have a cost type of claim cost, or in situations where the deductible has been waived, a line item is not available. The base application designates claim cost as the only applicable cost type, and this behavior is configurable. See ClaimCenter Configuration documentation.
To enable this functionality, you must ensure the
AllowMultipleLineItemsOnDeductibleRecovery application
configuration parameter is set to false in
config.xml. See Setting Up Deductibles. If this parameter is true, users can add non-deductible line
items, which can result in the deductible incorrectly appearing as unapplied.
