Unapplied fund slices

Cloud API allows you to retrieve unapplied funds slices.

When Enhanced Funds Tracking is enabled, the amounts in unapplied fund T-accounts are subdivided based on the source of the funds in the T-account. Unapplied funds slices contain the balance of a funds source within a specific unapplied fund T-account. They act as a link between the funds source (such as a direct bill money received) and the funds use events (such as the allocation of funds to settle invoice items).

In Cloud API, it is necessary to retrieve unapplied funds slices when you need to understand the balance associated with specific funds sources or when selecting slices to use in a transaction.

Querying for unapplied fund slices

You can query for unapplied fund slices using the following endpoints:
  • GET /billing/v1/t-accounts/{tAccountId}/unapplied-fund-slices
  • GET /billing/v1/t-accounts/{tAccountId}/unapplied-fund-slices/{unappliedFundSliceId}

Cloud API returns objects containing information about the current amount in the unapplied fund slice, the related funds source, and the related T-account. Additionally, the object contains the fields:

  • amount: The current amount in the unapplied fund slice
  • currency: The currency of the slice
  • eventDate: The date the unapplied fund slice was created
  • fundsSource: The funds source the slice is attached to
  • historical: A Boolean indicating if this fund slice represents the aggregate of transactions on the associated T-account at the time of enabling Enhanced Funds Tracking (for more information about historical funds sources, see the Application Guide)
  • historicalAmount: Captures the original amount in the T-account before enabling Enhanced Funds Tracking
  • tAccount: The T-account that holds the funds in this unapplied fund slice

Example of querying for unapplied fund slices

Suppose an account has an unapplied fund T-account with a balance of $156. Three unapplied fund sources make up the total amount in the unapplied fund:
  • One direct bill money received transaction for $126
  • One ad hoc credit for $30
  • One historical funds source of $0

Suppose that each of these funds sources has a single unapplied fund slice, and none of the funds have been used up in a funds use event. You can GET all slices of the unapplied fund like this:
