Admin users can assign a user to one or more
roles. Permissions can then be assigned to roles rather than to individual users.
About this task
When you assign a user role, InsuranceNow assigns the default
security configuration to the user. You can override the role security for an individual user.
Optionally, you can assign the change a beginning date and an ending date to define the period
of time during which the override will apply. The dates can be changed.
Procedure
-
Select .
The User Management page opens.
-
Look up a user or add a new user to assign to a user
role.

panel.
-

The User Information page opens showing the User Role
Maintenance panel.
-
Select a role from the Role list.
- Optional:
Use the Start Date and End Date fields to
specify a starting and ending date for this role assignment, or leave the defaults to
apply the role indefinitely, until you manually change it.

Select Save.
-
Repeat steps 4–7 to assign the user to additional roles, as needed.
-
Save your changes.
Results
Note: Because a user can have multiple roles, the authorities from these roles might
accumulate. To prevent issues with role stacking, ensure that authority sets do not overlap
when configuring InsuranceNow security. For more information, see
Role stacking for combined permissions.
