General incidents
In some cases, you may want to create an incident at the Incident
supertype level. This can be appropriate for claims that make use of incidents not
covered at one of the subtype levels. For example, an insurer may offer a special type
of policy for covering fine art, such as paintings. The insurer opts not to create a new
incident subtype for fine art losses and uses the Incident
supertype
instead.
In Cloud API, you can create incidents at the Incident
supertype level
by using the /general-incidents
endpoints. In the base configuration,
this provides access to fields available to all incident types, such as
description
, lossParty
, and
severity
.
General incidents can also make use of assessment content items. An assessment content item is an individual item covered by the policy.
