About this task

Procedure

  1. Move to the right and select Create Scenario.
  2. At the displayed dialog, type a scenario name, select the metric level, and click Next.
  3. Complete the details that define the two or more datasets. Most of your interaction is self-explanatory, though the descriptions that follow might be helpful:
    • For Basic Compare Options:
      • To re-use a dataset that you configured previously, click Existing Dataset, move into the Dataset text box, and select the dataset of interest. Else, type a new name.
      • Datasource refers either to your company or to one of the available benchmarks.
      • Perspective Date refers to the date of collection, such that the comparison will be based on the data that was collected on the specified date or on the date that most recently preceded the specified date.
If you choose to specify the date rather than relying on the date of the last available data, the date format is appropriate to the locale, and the interaction is as follows:
        • In the date field itself, you can select a month, day, or year and change the value.
        • Alternatively, you can select a calendar icon, in which case you can move to a different year by a process that starts by selecting the current year; or you can move to a different month by selecting one or another arrow at the top of the icon.
      • Date range refers to the start and end dates within which the claim or exposure was created. The options includes month-to-date (MTD) and several more widely used abbreviations. For details on using the calendars, see the description for Perspective Date.
    • For Applicability Options, in relation to Line of Business and Coverage, do one of the following tasks for each:
      • To see a list of choices that are based on your organization's usage, select Mine and select the text box at the immediate left.
      • To see a list of choices as standardized by Guidewire for display in ClaimCenter, select Standardized and select the text box at the immediate left.

When you set up the dataset for a benchmark, always select Standardized.

      • Under Claim Characteristics or Exposure Characteristics, the entries that include Mine and Standardized are equivalent to what was just described.
  4. To copy the settings from the left side of the comparison to the right side, go to the top of the entries and click Duplicate Selection. This step enables you to start your work on the right side with a set of custom settings.
  5. To change the scenario name, move to the current name, select the edit icon, type the change, and select the check mark.
  6. To save your work and display the results, click Save and Show Results. To avoid saving your work, click Cancel.
