Regions
Regions are groupings of departments or teams of users at an insurer. For example, in a claims processing system, you can organize groups of claims adjusters into geographic regions, or, in a policy or billing administration system, users and teams are organized by field offices or branches. You can associate a user group or individual user with one or more regions.
Regions are also associated with region zones, which are similar to geographic zones. The difference between region zones and geographic zones is that region zones in the base InsuranceSuite applications are limited to United States states, counties, and zip codes only. Geographic zones in the base InsuranceSuite applications include all these as well as cities and countries other than the United States. Lastly, regions are used for assignment of work to InsuranceSuite application users whereas geographic zones are used to limit things like holidays to certain countries in InsuranceSuite applications.
As an administrative user, you can create regions in BillingCenter as long as you have the appropriate permissions
(regionview, regionmanage). Regions can include
all levels of region zones. For example, a single region can include two states, a zip
code, and a set of specific counties in the United States. Region zones can belong to
more than one region.
While regions are not available to manage in the BillingCenter user interface, you can
work with regions endpoints in Cloud API for BillingCenter as long as you have the
appropriate permissions (regionview,
regionmanage).
