Internal install instructions for Developer Assistant
Prerequisites
Required permissions
You must have the correct AD group permissions. Request the appropriate AD group using Omada:
- Internal Guidewire users:
gwa.pd_lower.codelift.user - Customers:
gwa.any_planet_class.codelift.user
Development container tool requirements
Depending on your development container tool, you might need to configure port forwarding and browser integration:
- Visual Studio Code: Automatically detects ports and includes browser integration.
- Dev CLI: Requires manual configuration.
- See Studio Integration for more information about the configuration.
Required ports:
- Port
9876must be forwarded for Okta callback. - Port
3000must be forwarded for your Jutro app (or other port matching your Jutro app port config).
Setup steps
Both options assume you are using the GW AI Dev tool which provides Claude Code with the Jutro Developer Assistant MCP pre-installed.
.mcp.json file configured by default. The concurrent devcontainer profile does not have any ports mapped, so Developer Assistant MCP won't be able to authenticate with Okta.Choose the setup method that best fits your environment:
Option 1 (recommended): Quick setup using the Dev CLI standard profile
jutro-dev-assistant login command to trigger the authentication flow. For more information about this command, see Explicit login and logout commands.1. Install the Jutro development agent skill
jutro-dev-assistant skill-install
Make sure the Developer Assistant MCP server is successfully connected.
2. Start Claude Code and verify the MCP server connection
Launch Claude Code and check that the MCP server is connected properly by running the following command in your terminal:
claude
/mcp # Check server status
jutro-developer-assistant · ◯ disabled
If you see this message, you can enable the server by pressing Enter.
If the MCP server is configured correctly, you will see the following output:
jutro-developer-assistant ✓ connected
3. Setup Developer Assistant instructions for your Claude Code agent
Option 2: Full setup when Developer Assistant MCP is not preconfigured
If you're not using Visual Studio Code, you'll need to manually configure port forwarding. This option is for users who wants to use Jutro Developer Assistant MCP with Dev CLI profiles that don't support Developer Assistant MCP by default.
1. Configure port forwarding
Ensure that port 9876 is forwarded for Okta authentication by adding the following snippet to your devcontainer.json:
{
...
"appPort": [
"127.0.0.1:9876:9876"
]
...
}

To verify that the Developer Assistant MCP setup was successful, you can run a basic prompt in Claude Code that requests the Jutro Button API documentation:
> Show me API of Jutro Button
If the setup was successful, the following happens:
- A popup appears requesting browser authentication through Okta single sign-on (SSO).
- The Okta authentication flow can be completed successfully in your browser.
- The MCP server is invoked to retrieve the Jutro Button API documentation.
- Claude Code responds with information from the retrieved documentation.
